I am sorry I do not have a good picture of Alberta. Since my sister has passed the recipes on to me, I will put her picture up for the time being.
This is with Fred Burrill after their wedding.
Boil:
1/2 cup of Oleo*
1/2 cup oil (There was not much available except corn oil)
1 Cup of water
4 Tablespoons of cocoa
Sift together:
2 cups of flour
2 cups of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Combine with the boil(this would have to be cooled)and beat well.
Then add:
1/2 cup of buttermilk
1 teaspoon of soda(I might combine this with the dry ingredients to distribute evenly)
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Pour into a greased jellyroll pan or deep cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes.
Frost while the cake is hot.
Frosting
Boil:
1 stick of oleo
4 Tablespoons of cocoa
1/3 cup of buttermilk
Remove from the heat and add:
1 box of confectioneary sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 cup of chopped walnuts
*Does anyone remember getting Oleo Margarine in a little bag and having to break the color packet in the bag and massage the color through the Oleo?
